The HRAASHF was created in 1995 and is a nonprofit organization established to recognize and honor African Americans who have excelled in athletics in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia.

By recognizing and celebrating athletic excellence, the HRAASHF hope to inspire youngsters to pursue personal and collective excellence that is not limited to, but mirrors, their physical accomplishments.

Our Mission Statement

The Hampton Roads African-American Sports Hall of Fame identifies and honors African-Americans who have achieved excellence in athletic endeavors and who either were born, spent formative years, or participated in athletic activities in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. By attaining its mission, the Hall of Fame hopes to encourage young African-American to pursue the highest levels of excellence in athletic and personal development activities.
